<span style="color: #a2c4c9; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Chapter 2: (Excerpt)

<span style="color: #a2c4c9; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Scratchboard has to be one of the dirtiest arts there is. You will turn black, your clothes will turn black, anything in the vicinity of your work will also turn black (including your couch and carpet)........It is not for the faint of heart. However, the best thing going for it, it is washable. Clothes will come clean again, your hands will wash off with water. Just don't touch your face while working on it then answer the door.

<span style="color: #a2c4c9; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Why would I get so black, you ask. Well let me tell you a little about what you will be working with......

<span style="color: #a2c4c9; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Chapter 1: (excerpt)

<span style="color: #a2c4c9; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Less than one year ago, I tried my hand at scratchboard.

<span style="color: #a2c4c9; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Before that I always worked with acrylics and loved them (still do). You can see how I progressed with these paintings over the past few years at <span style="color: #0b5394; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">http://sues-art.com<span style="color: #a2c4c9; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">. I went from ordinary to pretty damn good, lolol (my opinion, of course).....

<span style="color: #a2c4c9; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Why did I switch to scratchboard?

<span style="color: #a2c4c9; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Honestly, I wanted to try something different. Scratchboard always intrigued me, how did they get from a blank board to almost photographic images? I wanted to try and see how I could do compared to others.

<span style="color: #a2c4c9; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">My first scratch was Mustang Baby (Baby's First Winter, Moonlit, depending on what time of year it is, lol. Can't ever think of a good title.) You can see it on my scratchart blog, <span style="color: #0b5394; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">http://suekroll.blogspot.com<span style="color: #a2c4c9; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">. It was pretty good, I think, for a first one. I got the boards online as we do not have them where I live and I also got some inks and the tools. I found the tools were woefully inadequate with too much gouging, not the finesse I wanted. But the end result was good.

<span style="color: #a2c4c9; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Over the following weeks and months I have learned so much. I hope to help others through their trials and tribulations with scratchboard with this blog. I hope you will follow!
